Details

Site of paleontological fascination for over a century, the La Brea Tar Pits is an active dig site of Ice Age fossils that were helplessly trapped in the enveloping asphalt thousands of years ago. In 2016, the Natural History Museum embarked on a revitalization of the La Brea Tar Pits Museum and site. The goals were to create a sense of place, interject didactic interpretation and implement a clear wayfinding system that tied the outside pits with the Museum.

Working cross-departmentally, I oversaw the content development, design, fabrication and installation of the La Brea Tar Pits & Museum revitalization. Renovations included a rebranding, a refresh of exhibition galleries and outdoor structures; new interpretive signage and wayfinding throughout the park; and the launch of a new 3D film.
